Fall Classic Game 7 Draws Over 50 Million Audience Members In the US, Canada and Japan Regions.

The thrilling extended contest where the Dodgers defeat the Blue Jays by one run averaged a total 51M spectators in the United States, Canada, and Japanese markets. MLB reported this represents the highest-rated Fall Classic Game 7 since the 1991 edition showdown between the Minnesota Twins and Braves.

Television Ratings Breakdown

The Saturday epic game averaged over 27 million audience members on Fox Sports networks, Fox Deportes and Fox’s streaming platforms. Per Nielsen, it was the second most-watched program of the previous week.

It also stands as the most-watched Fall Classic game since the 2017 final game between the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged 29.07 million. This marks a 16% increase over the last Game 7 between the Washington Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19M.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 placed 4th, the fourth game ranked seventh, the fifth game was 8th, and Game 3 finished in thirteenth place.

International Viewership Figures

In the Canadian market, the climactic game drew over 11 million watchers on the Sportsnet network and the French TVA Sports channel. This was the most-watched English-language program in Canada after the 2010 edition Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the deciding contest began at 9 p.m. in the local time zone, it drew 12 million. This followed last Friday’s Game 6 – where World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up one run in six frames – drew over 13 million viewers, making it the most-watched World Series game on a sole broadcaster in Japan.

Series Averages and Patterns

The full seven-game World Series drew 15.71 million viewers on the Fox network, a 2% rise from last year’s Dodgers versus Yankees matchup. This represents the initial instance since 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has recorded viewership increases for two consecutive seasons.

Counting the opening game broadcast on the Univision network, the complete US viewership reached over 16 million. The overall Fall Classic average in Japan was 9.7M and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The complete MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels averaged 8.09M watchers, an 8% increase compared to the previous year and Fox’s strongest playoff performance since 2017.

MLB announced that the Fall Classic was televised in 203 nations and regions by forty-four broadcasting partners in sixteen various languages.
